Rob Wells was appointed CEO of Quest Aircraft on 15 January 2017. Quest is the manufacturer of the Kodiak, a high performance, single engine, utility turbo prop. The company certified the Kodiak 10 years ago, and 2017 production is expected to exceed 40 aircraft. The company employs roughly 300 associates, mostly residing in Sandpoint, Idaho where the Kodiak is produced.  Quest is owned by Setouchi Holdings of Japan.

In 2015 Rob formed Daedalus Advisory LLC is an international business aviation consultancy providing experienced based strategic and management support services to the industry and its investors. The consultancy has been dormant since he assumed the CEO role with Quest.

For 7 years Rob served as CEO of Geneva based TAG Aviation Holding, responsible for its worldwide businesses, including six operating companies. Oversaw the management teams that created the dramatic growth of TAG Aviation Asia, establishment of TAG Aviation Middle East, and successful diversification of TAG Aviation Europe’s maintenance, charter, aircraft management, and FBO businesses. TAG Farnborough Airport is also part of the TAG Aviation family of companies.

For previous 5 years he was COO, followed by CEO, of TAG Aviation Europe, and led a multinational team that built the largest aircraft management fleet in Europe, significantly expanded the company’s European maintenance footprint, and establishing TAG Aviation España, Spain’s largest operator.

Rob’s earlier career in the US was with Piedmont Aviation, Inc. (now part of Landmark Aviation) starting as an aircraft salesman followed by roles as Sales Vice President for the company’s Beechcraft dealership, and additional management responsibilities culminating in the Executive Vice President role. He participated in the management led buy out of the company that enlisted both venture capital and subsequently private equity (Carlisle Group) participation. Holds undergraduate and graduate university degrees, and accumulated over 8000 flight hours as a professional pilot.  Board positions with NATA (National Air Transport Association) in the US, as well as 7 years with EBAA (European Business Aircraft Association). Rob resides in Seattle with his wife of 27 years.

 

Nicholas Newby, Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Customer Service[+] READ MORE

Nick Newby brings over 20 years of aviation experience to his position at Quest. He is well-versed in the sales, marketing and service aspects of the aviation industry, both domestically and internationally.

Newby began his aviation career as an airframe and powerplant mechanic for Columbia Helicopters. In this position, he traveled the western United States, Canada, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia, handling field logistics and maintenance during helicopter logging, firefighting and oil exploration operations.

In 1997, Newby joined Cessna Aircraft Company as a Citation mechanic, moving quickly through the ranks to increasingly responsible maintenance and sales positions. He was promoted to the position of Customer Solution Manager, focusing on pre-sales, contracts and delivery responsibilities for the European, Middle East and African markets.

Newby then moved to Jeppesen, A Boeing Company, and served as Product Manager of Airway Manual Services, responsible for increasing global revenues while decreasing expenses for the company’s flagship product line. He then transitioned to New Product Development Manager, focusing on the development of products and services to ease the transition for customers moving from paper to electronic navigation products.

Leaving Jeppesen, Newby assumed the position of Vice President of Customer Service at Pilatus Business Aircraft. During his tenure with Pilatus, the company was voted the #1 Customer Service Organization in the ProPilot PRASE Survey in the turboprop category.

In 2009, he took on a new opportunity with Honda Aircraft Company as Manager, European Sales. In this position, Newby was instrumental in establishing a HondaJet Dealership network in the United Kingdom and Europe. During that time, he was also responsible for managing HondaJet’s Eastern Regional Office.

Newby then rejoined Cessna as Regional Sales Director where he led the sales activities for all models of new and pre-owned Citation Jet aircraft in the Southwest and Southeast United States.

Newby is a certified private pilot and holds an airframe and powerplant license. He has been the recipient of three “Leading Edge” award from Cessna recognizing customer dedication and excellence, as well as the recipient of the prestigious “President’s Pin” at Jeppesen. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in E-Commerce Management from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas.

Jason Eddy joined Quest Aircraft in March 2009 as a Manufacturing Engineer, moving to Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Senior Manager of Engineering and Operations and then Vice President, Engineering and Operations. He assumed his present position in January 2016. Eddy brings solid experience in engineering, lean manufacturing, and process and materials management to the company.

Prior to joining Quest, Eddy was with Intel Corporation, the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturer, were he worked first as a Managing Process Engineer and then as Materials Program Manager. While at Intel, he was responsible for overseeing cost-cutting initiatives that saved over $4.8 million annually in manufacturing costs. His experience there included implementing lean manufacturing principles and managing all aspects of a process module in a 24/7, high volume manufacturing environment. As Materials Program Manager, Eddy developed and implemented material plans, oversaw inventories at overseas facilities, and successfully resolved global supply line issues.

In addition to manufacturing expertise, Eddy also worked in the educational content industry, initially in a content development role and eventually as Executive Director, responsible for all operations of his business unit.

Eddy holds a Master of Business Administration degree, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and a Bachelor of Arts in Physics. He has taken additional professional and technical development courses during his career.

 

Susan Jordan, Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President, Administration[+] READ MORE

Susan Jordan joined Quest in 2007, working in the finance department. She has held increasingly responsible positions and now serves as Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President, Administration. Jordan has over 30 years of business experience, much of it in finance/accounting. In addition, she has held several senior management positions, including Vice President/General Manager of Softchec, Inc, a division of Wausau Financial Systems.

Jordan began her career with Systems Analysis, Inc., before joining Softchec in 1989. She held increasingly responsible positions, culminating in the General Manager role. She also served in a management position at GE Capital/Safeco Credit. Prior to joining Quest, Jordan was the Accounting Manager for Cascade Rescue Equipment.

John Hunt, Vice President of Sales, North, Central and South America[+] READ MORE

John Hunt joined Quest Aircraft in March 2015 as Vice President of Sales for North, Central and South America. John brings 24 years of aviation experience to the position, which includes management positions at aircraft dealerships with multiple OEM relationships, managing a Part 141 flight school and Part 135 charter operation, overseeing maintenance operations and a stint with major airlines.

Hunt is well-suited to help support Quest’s dealer network and expand the KODIAK’s market presence. His previous experience includes over 12 years with Flightline Group, where he held a variety of increasingly responsible positions. He most recently served as Executive Vice President, Dealership Operations, where he was responsible for managing the company’s Piper, HondaJet and Mahindra dealerships. Additionally, John has experience as a regional sales manager for two other aviation organizations.

Prior to joining Quest, Hunt launched an aviation consulting company specializing in identifying emerging aviation analytical tools focused on improving the customer service experience.

He holds a Bachelor of Science and Masters in Aviation Business Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University as well as a commercial pilot license with an instrument rating (ASMEL).

Hunt also has served on multiple aviation associations and boards including past President, Officer and Director of the Florida Aviation Business Association, Director for the Malibu/Mirage Owners & Pilots Association as well as the Southeast SATSLab Consortium.

 

John Jacobson, Vice President, Quality Assurance[+] READ MORE

John Jacobson joined Quest in June 2009 as Receiving Inspector in the Quality Department. The following year he assumed the position of Quality Engineer/Systems Quality Assurance, where he worked with key departments to maintain compliance with FAA Regulations and Type Design. He also served as Quest’s Quality Department FAA Liaison and contact with the MIDO office. Jacobson was promoted to Quality Manager, and then to Director of Quality. He currently serves as Vice President, Quality Assurance and is responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of all aspects and day-to-day activities of the company’s FAA-approved Quality System.

Jacobson’s responsibilities have included serving as the company’s Quality Representative to external entities such as the FAA, customers and suppliers. He has overseen the successful passing of the FAA bi-annual Quality Systems Audits (QSA) and was responsible for the development and implementation of the processes and procedures regarding Quest’s Quality Assurance program. He is an active participant in Quest’s Product Integrity Team and holds the leading role in internal investigations regarding product issues.

Prior to joining Quest, Jacobson spent 30 years with Qwest Communications, Inc. in a variety of positions. Key experience includes overseeing telecommunications infrastructure installation/testing for new construction, trouble-shooting, customer service and managing work crews. During this time, Jacobson served as a Volunteer Firefighter/EMS Officer for 10 years, retiring as Captain of one of the three stations in the district.

Jacobson’s post high-school education includes college courses in electronics, physics, science and drafting. He has taken continuing education courses in computer hardware and software and received Certificates of Completion in Core Hardware and Operating Systems. He has a detailed knowledge of FAA Rules and Regulations and also AS9100 and ISO9001 quality systems.

 

Kenny Stidham, Director Flight Operations & Safety Officer[+] READ MORE

Kenny Stidham joined Quest Aircraft in April 2005, and has served the company in a variety of key piloting roles over the years. In his position as Director of Flight Operations and Safety Officer, Stidham’s responsibilities include overseeing all production flight testing, pilot familiarization courses, engineering flight testing and customer demonstration flights. 

 Stidham’s previous work experience includes serving as a corporate pilot and mechanic for an East Texas charter operation and in building materials sales. He is an FAA Designated Engineering Representative Flight Test Pilot, holds an Airline Transport Pilot License and is a Certified Flight Instructor.  Stidham is also a Certified Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic with Inspection Authorization. He received a B.S. degree in Aeronautical Science from LeTourneau University, Longview, TX and has completed numerous maintenance and flight training courses.

 

David Schuck, Director of Customer Service Center[+] READ MORE

David Schuck is Director of Quest’s Customer Service Center. He joined Quest in 2009 as Special Projects Manager, reporting to the CEO. During that period of growth, Schuck was tasked with filling the gaps between departments in a rapidly expanding production environment. He held increasingly responsible positions in Change Management, Finance, and Procurement over the next several years, before assuming his current position. Schuck’s responsibilities include aftermarket sales, new aircraft completions, warranty administration, engineering aircraft support and management of the Part 145 Repair Station.

Schuck has over 40 years of business experience in logistics, manufacturing, sales, and customer service and is pursuing on-going education in business management and leadership. Prior to joining Quest he held several senior management and leadership positions, including Vice President Sales, Director of Operations and Customer Service Director in several manufacturing and transportation organizations.

Schuck’s civic involvement includes serving as President of the Idaho Airport Management Association and as Airport Manager at Sandpoint Airport. He also serves in the local Civil Air Patrol squadron.

Schuck is a Private Pilot with a Seaplane Rating and enjoys flying the Idaho back country.
