Machinist 1[+] READ MORE

We are seeking an experienced Machinist to join our team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating assigned machine(s) and performing deburr and inspection operations in support of cutting and forming aluminum aircraft parts for the Kodiak 100 while maintaining a clean and safe environment.

 Duties include:

  • Perform startup procedures such as turning on and warming up machines, maintaining machine fluid levels, and checking for leaks.
  • Scan tool data page for broken tools, replace tools, and monitor programs and machine for tool collisions and other anomalies
  • Manufacture parts in the machine center by correctly setting up the material, installing necessary tooling/dies, and loading correct programs.
  • Use basic inspection equipment and blueprints to ensure that parts will pass inspection.
  • When possible, inspect and deburr parts on workbench while machine is in operation.
  • Perform the maintenance assigned to the machine operator and ensure maintenance logs are kept up to date.
  • Prioritize work appropriately according to Planning and ensure that no jobs are lagging.
  • Communicate Expedite parts to downstream customers.
  • When new programs are being run, stay with the machine and closely monitor program performance and prevent unnecessary tool crashes.
  • Identify the need and prepare orders for new/replacement tooling.
  • Empty the chip/waste bins into the outside recycling containers and notify recycler when full.
  • Communicate problems such as notes on bad parts, broken tools or dies, and machine problems following the appropriate chain of command to ensure the correct plan of action is pursued in a timely manner.
  • Follow requirements on the job travelers and record work in Vantage/MES.
  • Confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve issues.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing, 6-sigma, 5S and/or equivalent methodologies to continually make improvements in safety, quality, throughput, and cost.

 Position Requirements:

Two years of related experience and/or education strongly preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and have intermediate math skills. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, write routine reports and correspondence, and demonstrate good analytical skills, alphanumeric accuracy and reading comprehension. Must be team orientated, dependable, trustworthy and present self with professionalism.

 Computer based aptitude tests and mechanical skills assessments may be administered to qualified applicants who are selected to interview. If offered employment, a Functional Analysis Test will be given to determine ability to perform the Essential Functions of the job. We are seeking a temporary college intern to join our Engineering team for the summer. This position will provide assistance with our Fatigue project, including performing visual inspections of the test articles and fixtures. Knowledge and experience using a variety of hand and power tools is required. Must demonstrate a high degree of mechanical aptitude. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required. The successful candidate will have excellent self-management skills and the ability to consistently follow detailed instructions for testing operations. Good communication skills and intermediate math skills are required. Must be team orientated, dependable, trustworthy and present self with professionalism. The right individual will be teachable and willing to learn. The physical demands of this position include the ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs; ability to perform visual inspections for structural failure; and the ability to access and work on a scaffolding/platform.

Planner III[+] READ MORE

We are seeking a Planner to join our team. This position will be responsible for assisting in managing, planning, and directing manufactured aircraft parts within the established cost, quality and schedule guidelines, and assuring compliance with Quest quality systems.

 Duties include:

  • Responsible for any or all of the following: Revision Implementation; Work Authorizations for Production and/or Master Schedule changes.
  • Support and increase parts availability to assure productivity improvements and mandated TAKT Time increases are met.
  • Review processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, work procedures, considering limitations and time constraints.
  • Help develop and implement performance tracking systems, analyzing performance of key indicators to assure the correct amount of parts in the correct configuration are available when needed.
  • Work with the Master Production Schedule.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Manage aircraft configuration and production working and production management on workflow and scheduling.
  • Develop feasible, 18-month master production schedules for finished goods and component items based on forecast requirements. Calculates resulting requirements for raw materials, purchased parts based on MRP methodology.
  • Lead efforts to install standard processes for the Master Production Scheduling function, in accordance with MRP methodology.
  • Identify materials with no further use, recommend disposition.
  • Participate in meetings, and keep up to date on issues related to Sales Forecast, Manufacturing, Planning, New Product introductions, Line Fill Rates, Metrics, and other Supply Chain issues.
  • Participate in training and mentoring of lower level staff in the Planning Department.

 Minimum five years in planning related field is required and five years in directly related aircraft manufacturing fields in Supply Chain management is strongly preferred.  Proficiency in Windows-Based personal computers and software as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis in Excel is required. Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) experience is also preferred. Additionally, the successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, exceptional organizational skills, display attention to detail and be able to consistently demonstrate a positive attitude in a rapidly changing environment.

Aircraft Assembler (Sub-assembly)[+] READ MORE

We are seeking aircraft assemblers to join our Sub-assembly team. These positions are responsible for properly assembling, fastening, and installing parts of the KODIAK such as tail, aft section, wings and fuselage. Familiarization with the use of hand and power tools is required. Experience with blueprint reading is preferred. Must be able, or be trainable, to competently install solid rivets commonly used in the construction of aircraft and aircraft assemblies. Should be able to select and use proper precision measuring equipment (PME), have a high degree of mechanical aptitude and attention to detail with the ability to work quickly and thoroughly in a production environment. Must be able to use a computer to access aircraft drawings, processes, and other reference material. Good communication skills and intermediate math skills required. Must be team orientated, but able to work independently, be dependable, trustworthy and present self with professionalism. The right individual will be teachable and willing to learn. 

Although not specifically required, individuals with past aviation experience and/or FAA airframe and powerplant license may be given preference. In addition, knowledge of aircraft electrical systems, soldering, wiring and avionics installation would also be desirable.

Deburr Associate[+] READ MORE

We are seeking a Deburr Associate to join our team. This individual will be responsible for deburring and inspecting flat pattern and/or machined aluminum parts.

Essential Duties Include:

  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
  • Deburr flat pattern and/or machined aluminum aircraft parts using various hand & power tools.
  • Monitor parts for defects and highlight any issues or anomalies.
  • Perform Parts Tumbler maintenance as assigned and ensure maintenance logs are up to date.
  • Prioritize work appropriately according to Planning.
  • Communicate Expedite parts to downstream customers.
  • Follow requirements on the job travelers and record work in Vantage/MES.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing, 6-sigma, 5S and/or equivalent methodologies to continually make improvements in safety, quality, throughput, and cost.

Related experience preferred. Must be able to perform basic functions in MS Windows XP, MS Office Suite and Internet Explorer. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the use of hand and power tools, be able to read and interpret blueprints, have basic math skills and good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate good analytical skills, alphanumeric accuracy and reading comprehension and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Must be team orientated, dependable, trustworthy and present self with professionalism.

Production Trainer[+] READ MORE

We are seeking a Production Trainer to join our Training team. This position is responsible for delivering an effective production training program; training workers at workstations and in the classroom; and assisting in the development of new training or methods of training.

 Duties include:

  • Deliver training to Quest Process Specifications, drawings, and work instructions including assembly and fit of aircraft structural parts, rivet and de-rivet structural parts, repair structural components, install/uninstall other fastener types, sealant applications, and install aircraft systems
  • Teach reading and interpreting drawings, diagrams and manuals to trainees
  • Instruct layout and mark reference points on aircraft parts
  • Train proper completion of Job Travelers
  • Teach trainees to align, fit, assemble, connect, or install system components, using jigs, fixtures, precision measuring instruments, hand tools, or power tools
  • Work with Supervisors, Area and Cell Leads to help Training Coordinator perform needs analysis of trainees
  • Aid with development of training plans and programs based on determination of needs analysis
  • Participate in actively searching, creatively designing and implementing effective methods to educate and enhance production performance
  • Aid with the development of teaching outlines and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, meetings and workshops
  • Schedule and facilitate small-group trainings on and off the production floor, 1:1 trainings, recurring trainings, on-the-job trainings and other ad hoc trainings as appropriate to business needs
  • Test trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of skills training
  • Report on progress of employees under guidance during training periods
  • Assists with follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results and present to management as required. Assist employees with problems concerning "how to" perform specific tasks related to their position
  • Monitor workmanship of trainees
  • Help maintain trainee personnel training records
  • Work with Training Coordinator to improve trainer development programs and coach others involved in training efforts
  • Make suggestions on improving work procedures and update/prepare work instructions as time allows

 A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Previous training and/or product experience or one year related training experience required. Equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable. Experience developing and proofing training materials is strongly preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and intermediate math skills are required. Outstanding verbal and written communication and presentation skills required. Must have strong planning, organization, and multi-tasking skills. Ability to learn and perform each essential duty of KODIAK 100 aircraft assembly is required. Must be able to follow and teach the appropriate safety precautions. The successful individual will be able to create momentum and foster organizational change; lead by example and foster mentoring relationships; and demonstrate support of Quest company values.
