The Low Cost of Ownership

The Kodiak was built for efficiency. It has the lowest operating costs in its class. For a medium range STOL aircraft capable of delivering 10 people or lifting more than 1.5 tons of useful load, there is nothing more economical.

That is why business operations are turning to the Kodiak to supplement their long-range jet fleets. It is far more economical and faster to operate a Kodiak on short-haul trips then a twin-engine turbo-prop or jet.

The chart featured here is an example a typical Kodiak cost of operation calculation.

Estimated Cost of Operation
45 GPH @ 4.08 per Gal. ** ** $183.60
Based on operator experience
Labor — 0.3 MH/FH ($85/HR)

  • Includes scheduled and unscheduled events
  • Labor cost is about 22% less during warranty
Parts (list price without warranty) $33.25
Avionics (Avionics cost will be less during warranty period) $2.50
Overhaul Reserves*
Engine HSI @ 2,000 hours * ** $10.00
Engine OH @ 4,000 hours TBO * ** $58.75
Prop OH @ 4,000 hours TBO or 6 years $1.85
Starter Generator OH @ 1,600 hours TBO $1.40
Total Direct Cost Per Hour
Cost per Seat Mile $0.23
Annual Hourly Utilization 300-500

* Reserves are non-cash items that are spent only at the time of overhaul.
** Based on 300 NM Block Speed of 175 Kts @ Maximum Cruise Power @ 12,000’
*** Based on Pratt & Whitney estimates
**** Based on Average Jet-A price of 3000+ FBO’s in the USA at the time of revision

THE FIGURES CONTAINED ON THESE PAGES ARE ONLY ESTIMATES. YOUR ACTUAL COST OF OPERATION WILL VARY FROM THESE FIGURES due to differences in accounting methods, cost of fuel and oil, labor services, engine overhaul, type of avionics installed, and the manner in which the aircraft is used (number of hours flown annually, power settings, type of airports used, environmental condition, pilot capability, etc.) Quest cannot and does not represent that these figures are anything other than estimated average costs of operation, and Quest specifically disclaims any liability for the accuracy of these estimates. They are to be used only for purposes of comparison.
